… do some baking.
Spring is giving us an unpredictable spell of weather. Who knows what the weekend will be like? And the beauty of baking is, if you time it right, you can have something lovely and warm straight out of the oven for a cosy afternoon tea watching the rain splash on the window, or pack it up and head out for a picnic with a scrumptious dessert.
So what to cook? Here’s a few ideas.
- You could try my mum’s chocolate cake.
- Lemon flavours are popular with the boys in my house and I’m thinking of trying this lemon slice.
- Meanwhile, these jam doughnut muffins look sensational.

- Or keep it simple with Nigella’s mother-in-law’s madeira cake.
