While the roses are starting to bloom and spreading their sweet scent around the house, it is really the geraniums that are taking stage at 74 Lime Lane this spring.

Last summer, my mum gave me cuttings of her geraniums that we put in pots around the boys’ new cubby house. They turned out to be one of my few gardening success stories. (They don’t need much help from me ~ which is probably why they have survived)

This spring, I have cut some of them back ~ they grew so large they were falling over ~ and replanted the cuttings into a section of the garden where a group of conifers had failed to survive the dry conditions. Cheap and cheerful. You can’t beat that.

But even so, I am amazed by the simple beauty and startling colour these little beauties have shown us.

Not to mention they are popular with the ladybird set.

Look at the way those flowers open ~ it looks just like a miniature rose bud.

I mean, why should roses get all the glory anyway.

Hello! I'm Kellie and here I collect inspiration ~ beautiful photos, words on creativity, lovely printables and handmade items. I love autumn, cameras, and of course, the colour lime.
oh your photos are stunning!! and I think Geraniums rock, they grow so easily and that costs nothing to just cut a bit off and bang it in the ground, my kind of flower, ours have gone wild this spring too
I am a big geranium fan – red ones take me back to Italy! Lovely pics!
Your gorgeous photos are making me rethink my geranium prejudice. One that suddenly seems unjustified. And a bit harsh.
simply stunning…and the ladybird is quite the divine addition! x
i think you have elevate geraniums to new heights with this amazing series!
dear kellie. I haven’t visited lately, but I’ve still been reading through google reader. I just had to comment on these amazing photos. absolutely beautiful.
Came across your gorgeous pics while surfing for my favourite plants, geraniums. Did you know the soldiers used to plant them outside the barracks in some of our wars. The humble geranium reminded them of home. There is an absolutely stunning almost black one, my parents have it at Rye, vic. Some of my favourite plants including fuschias have fallen to the high temps and drought but the geranium keeps on giving. Take care,Central goldfields, vic. KAT
