This week’s eyespy theme is from Tara and is joy. A great theme because it makes you sit back and think.
Now, I have to agree with her and say first up, it is family and friends that bring me joy ~ in little or big things.

But looking around, at this time, this lush wonderland in our backyard is giving us much joy. It’s our vegie patch ~ in practical pots ~ and for the first time in all attempts at vegie patches, it is growing and we are reaping the harvest.

At the moment we are enjoying the lettuce, watching the tomatoes grow and eyeing off the zucchini for picking (to make zucchini slice with eggs from our chooks!)

I know most of you probably have experienced that great (and, just quietly, for me that slightly virtuous feeling) of picking and eating your own vegetables. We are already planning expansions.

Also, have to give yet another shout out to the geraniums, still going gangbusters and providing much joy. [and in the background, our orange tree, which the council workers informed us was producing lovely sweet oranges]

Hello! I'm Kellie and here I collect inspiration ~ beautiful photos, words on creativity, lovely printables and handmade items. I love autumn, cameras, and of course, the colour lime.
I hope you stuffed that blossom with some mozzarella and fried that sucker the minute after you took that photo
.
A little trick I was taught w/ geraniums. Pinch off the bloom heads where the majority of the flowers are dead… promotes quicker blooming!
Eating and growing what you make or grow is such a fantastic experience. I can imagine that with your own veggies you know exactly what has gone into them….lots of time, care, and no nasty chemicals!
Lovely pictures. I love spring. Following the blossoming of the garden, watching everything grow. It’s going to take a while before that happens here again
So if it’s okay with you, I’ll soak up the spring here!
I agree with you 100%, harvesting your own crop (even if it’s just two tomatoes and a cucumber) is such a wonderful feeling. And an orange tree to boot, yuuum.
reminder to self: PLANT OUT ZUCC’S AND CUCUMBERS!! Your garden is looking lovely. It is so nice to be able to go outside and get something to eat… and for children to know where food comes from.
