… make a mix tape.
Remember pressing the record button at just the right time on the cassette player, or swapping tapes in and out to make up a mix tape. Ah, the good old days. {showing my age here somewhat}.
I figure, it is only early December and we might already be feeling a little bit Christmassed out, so instead, take a minute and make up a mix tape ~ for your partner, for a friend {or for a Christmas present}, for the kidlets perhaps. {although these days I think it is more called a “playlist” in “iTunes”}
My mind is on mix tapes this week as I am participating in a swap Vic organised called Music to Craft By, and involves the swapping of some CDs. {apologies though to my receipients cause I didn’t make it to the post office yesterday but as you can see here, they are ready and raring to go first thing Monday!}
Need some help. Look no further:
- Dylan Todd gives some mix tapes tips AND a mix tape cover you can print out and use here {which i used for my covers}
- Old-fashioned mix tapes with a modern twist by Suck UK
- Another template and suggested playlist at the Benign Object
- Go online, make playlists or find new music with Last Fm or 8 tracks
- And I can’t talk mix tapes without mentioning [one of my favourite movies of all time] High Fidelity from Nick Hornby’s fantastic book.
So, what’s your absolute top 5 for a mix tape?

Hello! I'm Kellie and here I collect inspiration ~ beautiful photos, words on creativity, lovely printables and handmade items. I love autumn, cameras, and of course, the colour lime.
Oooooh!! I think my swappees will have their CDs by now so I can say my top 5!
Personal Jesus – Johnny Cash
)
Golden Brown – The Stranglers
Perfect Day – Lou Reed
Jolene – The White Stripes
The End – The Doors (I totally forgot to put this on one of my CDs… NOOOOOO!! I love to put it at the end… duh…
Your CDs LOOK AWESOME! I’m sure your swapees won’t mind waiting a little longer for those!
