I seem to be taking lots of detours this week. My space was going be about something completely different but this week it is now about paint. For the lounge and dining room to be precise. After eight years of pale yellow walls (with a constrasting dusky trim ~ looks better than it sounds) we are moving to a neutral palette. Funny how you move into house saying “oh we can just paint over it” and then, eight years later, you have come to live with it and don’t think of anything of it. Until now.
With a little holiday break coming up, we have made the decision to paint ~ motivated by the fixing up of trouble spots and the fact that hopefully the five year old will no longer draw on walls and perhaps it is time to paint over his scribbling.
But did you know how many neutral colours are out there ~ how many tones, how many decisions. So inbetween painting blocks of colour on the wall, I am flicking through magazines and searching the www for the right colour scheme.
It certainly takes some creative thinking.

Hello! I'm Kellie and here I collect inspiration ~ beautiful photos, words on creativity, lovely printables and handmade items. I love autumn, cameras, and of course, the colour lime.
Hello – how exciting! We’ve been in a constant state of renovation for the last year here, so I know what it’s like to choose a “neutral” – I have found that it is actually easier to pick a colour than a neutral! We got a second opinion in the form of one of the Dulux colour consultants. It was great – she showed us colours in the Dulux “bible” (of every colour in every shade and tint) that we had never seen or thought of. Anyway, thought I would throw my two cents in – good luck!
Oh exciting. I am always so impressed by how a lick of paint can transform the whole place.
Neutral is the hardest colour choice! Good luck! I actually finding it really relaxing to paint walls… it’s excellent thinking time. (Fabulous for tuckshop arms too!)

It took me ages to decide on a neutral for our family-room-kitchen space…I had to take my cue from a lovely brick fireplace that used to look hideous before the right colour on the wall embraced it and turned it into the beautiful feature that it is now!!!! So yes, a good paint can totally transform a room…good luck!
Have a sweet day,

Ah, yes, choosing paint. The hardest part of the process. Good luck!
Yay for paint..Makes everything feel new again!!! As far as the 5 yr old…good luck momma, when my oldest learned the alphabet in school the wall with a permanent marker was the first thing he wrote it on lol…I am sending you no writing on the wall vibes
Good luck with the painting. Hope your neutral is just the right one.
Enjoy the painting! I think everything looks great against the neutral backdrop, especially when you have bright accessories. Enjoy the change too, you’ll feel like you’ve been on holiday (isn’t a change as good as one?!).
