Today I’m looking at colour trends in the 74 ways series, sparked by seeing Pantone’s Fall fashion report floating around and the change of season.
I think we all find colour inspiring and trends are an important part of designing, making and selling. A quick look through your blog reader will give you a glimpse into what is top of the consumer’s psyche. Recently, owls have been popular, Twitter sparked a fancy with birds and now foxes are popping up all over the place.
In that hemispherical quirk of fate, the fall forecast comes out right as us southerners are going into autumn, so looking at this palette can be quite inspiring.
Each season, colour institution Pantone releases its colour report, pairing designers with key colours. The fall report’s colours are featured above. What do you think of this mix?
It has some beautiful strong colours paired with some softer neutrals, and together it makes for a great palette.
This is a sample of the designer’s inspiration contained in the report, an inspiration for fall/autumn fashion.
You can find more information on the fall report here, including a download of the report and swatch libraries for Adobe and Quark.
You can also find some spring inspiration, with the palette above, here.
How do you think you might use these colours in your next project?

Hello! I'm Kellie and here I collect inspiration ~ beautiful photos, words on creativity, lovely printables and handmade items. I love autumn, cameras, and of course, the colour lime.
Wow, I’m really liking the colors they picked…especially the yellow, blue & turquoise. Ooh and the eucalyptus. I’m feeling inspired by these colors, thanks!!!
