I know you northern hemisphere types are starting to bake in the warmth as summe nears, but down under, the wintry weather is finally settling in. Autumn has come late but now the trees have caught up and are suddenly carpeting the roads and paths with their leaves. And while we might look northward with a little sigh of resentment, I must saying driving down my street, which is lined with deciduous monoliths, I am reminded and satisfied with the beauty of autumn and the combination of gold, browns, oranges and russet red leaves that make up the landscape.
And I think of soup.
I love soup, soup and crusty bread, even simple cup-a-soups. And with the weather settling in for a week of rain, I have simmered a pot of my favourite broth to warm us for the next couple of days, and Hubby has whipped up a loaf of wholemeal bread* to go along beside. Perfect.
So here are my favourite soup ideas {and where to find them}:
- Hearty chicken and vegetable soup {on the stove at the moment} from Taste.com.au
- Get a broccoli boost with Donna Hay’s soup
- I’m always on the lookout for a good chicken and corn soup, thanks Kirsty
- Would love to try this Quick Udon Noodle Soup
- My kids love meatballs so they are sure to go for the Pioneer Woman’s Italian Meatball Soup
Happy cooking.
*Our latest kitchen trick is to use our breadmaker to make the dough, then we handshape to whatever we want and stick it in a hot oven for 10-12 minutes. Voila, fresh homemade bread. So far we have made cheese and olive bread, various sizes of white bread and wholemeal bread.

Hello! I'm Kellie and here I collect inspiration ~ beautiful photos, words on creativity, lovely printables and handmade items. I love autumn, cameras, and of course, the colour lime.
You’re right! Right now we have put soups aside (though we have some cold ones instead), but a good soup is always welcome!
I’m totally with you and soup even cup a soup soup. ANd it’s going down big time around my place, xo
I love soup and sadly it’s the one thing I rarely make. I am always afraid I won’t make enough for my big ole family. I will have to conquer my fear for these yummy soups. Once it starts to cool again of course
