tuesday’s top 5 {dr seuss quotes}

Gotta say I’m feeling a little flat today, and it’s only Tuesday. And I shouldn’t be all grumpy when really, I should be grateful for all the goods thing happening around me.

And it got me thinking, which brought me to this top 5, and the cure to a bout of grumpiness ~ Dr Seuss.

So to inspire, motivate and lift me {and you if you’re here too} out of the doldrums today, my top 5 Dr Seuss quotes.

  1. You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.
  2. Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way.
  3. Don’t give up. I believe in you all. A person’s a person no matter how small
  4. Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.
  5. Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter won’t mind.

lime light: filmless photos

Kirsty is another one of my regional neighbours and a fellow photographer, moonlighting in a day job!

I am a self taught photographer whose “happy accidents” result in my art photography.  I like to make the everyday a little quirky – hence the bright photos with the not so usual perspectives.
To fund my obsession, I work also work as an occupational therapist – photography is a pleasant, creative escape. I dream of taking my photography full time, but for now it’s  part time with with a plan

As well as a variety of prints in her shop, she also has “usable art” ~ skins for iPhones {such a great idea} and also offers product photography packages. {And her work is also available at Shop Handmade in Canberra}

inspiration files: va-va vignettes

The word vignette is quite the confusing term for me. For starters, I have trouble pronouncing it {apparently it’s vin-yet}. Second, defining it. You see it used in all reference to home decorating, a lot, and it sums up the concept perfectly ~ those lovely little arrangements that just are that the incredibly stylish who walk among us just throw together with pieces from their travels or their thrifting adventures.

However, your standard dictionary doesn’t include such a clear definition. Although you can see where it has evolved. According to dictionary.com:

–noun
1.a decorative design or small illustration used on the title page of a book or at the beginning or end of a chapter.

2.an engraving, drawing, photograph, or the like that is shaded off gradually at the edges so as to leave no definite line at the border.

3.a decorative design representing branches, leaves, grapes, or the like, as in a manuscript.

4.any small, pleasing picture or view.

5.a small, graceful literary sketch.

So I guess it comes under the pleasing view. In this case, that’s what drawn me into these pictures. That “pleasing view”. The arrangement of random objects.

I like to arrange vin-yets myself around the house, and have those corners that I pass by that just make me smile. How about you?
