Today marks the start of a little tweaking of the lime light series, in that I have invited artists to share a little about themselves and their work.
So to kick it off, is Narelle from Ruby Victoria Letterpress and Printmaking from Tasmania. Now who can resist the allure of letterpress printing, and ~ I might be living in a bit of a bubble ~ but I’ve seen lots of letterpress printers from the US around the blogosphere so I have to admit to feeling a twinge of excitment to know there are some Australian representatives out there {and if there are more of you, put up your hand and wave wildly so we can see you!}
Narelle runs her small letterpress & printmaking studio from her home in the small beachside town of Blackmans Bay, which is about 20km south of Hobart.
I specialise in hand carved original art works and letterpress stationery.
All images are drawn then handcraved out of lino and then printed using an antique tabletop letterpress machine.
I only use traditional letterpress methods in my printing, using handset type not computer generated images or type which makes the work totally original
Narelle’s work has been features in the international publications The Little Book of Letterpress and Reinventing Letterpress by author Charlotte Rivers and will also be featuring in a Canberra publication called Handmade Living which is due out in December.
Narelle has also kindly offered one of her teacup stack prints ~ winner’s choice of turquoise or red ~ for a giveaway. {I know a few tea lovers who would love to have one of these on their wall!}
Just pop over to Narelle’s shops, decide which colour you would like and leave a comment below. {feel free to favourite her shop, heart an item or pop in and leave a lovely comment on her blog while you’re there}.
We’ll ask Mr Random.org to pick a winner on Friday at noon AEST. Open to lovely readers from all over the world.
