{top 5} DIY advent calendar ideas

One thing I would love to do for the smalls this Christmas is an advent calendar. I’ve never quite been organised enough {a shock I know} to have something ready in time for the start of the month.

So I’ve been on the lookout for some fun ideas to make one for this year. Here are some ideas I think I can manage {you know what that means, no sewing required!} or will spark some inspiration:

  1. Matchbox calendar from The Happy Home blog
  2. An advent calendar tree from Paige + Modern
  3. Using a noticeboard at You Are my Fave
  4. Paper cones from The Red Thread
  5. Baby sock calendar by Martha

As an extra, a post with activity ideas to use to fill your calendar here.

So I have some great inspiration here and have some ~ doable ~ ideas for our first homemade advent calendar. Although if it all falls apart, I have a back-up.

Do you have an advent calendar tradition? What’s your favourite style of advent calendar?

I made one of socks on a string. I just wrote the numbers on the pegs. Very easy and looks fantastic. It helped that target had red and green socks on special when I put it together.

Yo no tengo costumbre de hacer calendarios de adviento, pero quizas este año me anime con los conos de papel. Una gran idea. Gracias
(Espero que no te suponga un problema que te escriba en Español, si es asi, intentaré hacerlo en Ingles)
