{my creative space} creating a good habit

creating a habit

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit. I may have started about 10 days too late.

To be fair to myself, I’m not failing completely. But perhaps I’m not doing as well as I would like. Or as well as you might think.

So it’s confession time.

My camera gear hasn’t been out of the bag all week.

And by no strange coincidence, I returned to work this week ~ both at the paying-the-bills job and to a mountain of freelance work.

My hermit-like tendencies to stay at home all day until heading off to work are not that conducive to the whole taking lots of photos thing either.

So my camera stays in the corner.

Yeah, that’s what I think, too.

I’ll catch you later, I’m off to take some photos.

    Oh I hear you Kellie!
I know that when my pay-the-bills-job starts back again in a couple of week, I’ll be less inclined to take the camera out as well. Not that I’ve been at all inclined to do it since we got back from our holiday either, but I think that’s because I’m tired still.
I love your 2012 goal to be a more prolific & courageous photographer. Mind if I borrow it, and check in with you on it? I’ll be your photography-buddy!?

Absolutely Tasha! And I would love a buddy. It’s so easy, when we are back to the grind and routine, to not whip out the camera. And because we aren’t off going to all those fun and interesting places. I’m really trying to make a concious effort to. take. photos. And it might mean just going around the corner, or stopping at a place while on an errand. Carry the camera everywhere. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Hi Kellie, good to see I’m not alone! Since Christmas I’ve only really photographed things around the house. It’s been far too hot to venture out, so my nice DIY cameta bag hasnt even been used yet.
You’ll get back into it. If you force it I think it shows in your work. Well, does in my case.

Hey Kell, I know it. During holidays we got out more, now Hubby is back at work and then me, I’m a lot closer to home and I run out of subjects and inspiration. Although went to my parents today and threw my gear in. Mum always has stuff flowering so took some macro shot of her flowers. So I can tick it off for today!

I find the hardest part is pulling the camera out. I knew what I wanted to take a photo of today – so I took the camera and then once it was out I kept snapping and got some other great shots. If I’m ever lacking inspiration then some close ups help me get it back. I’m thinking of getting some extension tubes to help – it will be my reward if I make the whole of Jan photo-a-day.

Well done Melissa. Getting it out to start is the hardest step. Then once it’s out I find I usually can’t stop! Good luck with the photo-a-day

The one thing I want out of 2012 is to be a more prolific and courageous photographer. What does that...
