{snapshot} climbing the steep learning curve

soaking up the last of the winter sun

I’ve officially had my new camera now for a week. And I’m in love.

I’ve taken more than 100 photos {not that much really} and, for this week at least, my gaze has switched more to people than objects.

I’m not really sure why, the 5D does  take some awesome portraits regardless of what lens is on the camera.

It has been a bit of a learning curve ~ it is a full frame as opposed to the cropped sensor of my previous camera and which at first made composing difficult and full of slightly unexpected results. And naturally the buttons are all in different places which has taken some getting used to.

In all honesty I’m not in love with this first batch of photos. This one I shared on Saturday is among my favourites. And I have some lovely shots of my little family.

We went out in the glorious sunshine on the weekend, hunting for photo opportunities, and during a walk came across the ducks, and the swans with their little family. And I had the wrong lens with me. They were adorable but mum, or dad, was very protective and I didn’t want to get too close! Chalk that up to a lesson learned.

But, after a busy first week of school holidays, I’m looking forward to a more relaxed pace this week  with some time and the freedom to explore and take more pictures.

In the meantime, some inspiration in the Monday link film pack:

  1. I really like the feel of that first photo. It has a real mood to it (in a good way).

    • A little bit of melancholy perhaps? Setting of the glorious winter sun for the day! We’ve been blessed with sunshine of late, got the other side today ~ constant rain!
