the pulp // getting to know … Katia from Plushka

the pulp // getting to know plushka

Today I want to introduce you to Katia from Plushka, one of the advertisers here on Lime Lane. Katia has just launched her brand new website and has some exciting things planned for the coming month.

You make: I design and make felt toys, cross-stitch and crochet creations. Most of my items are hand-stitched as I am passionate about preserving this old-fashioned way of creating, even though it takes so much longer. I am also absolutely in love with cross-stitch and try to use it where possible!

You would love to learn how to: quilt! I would love to make a few quilt for our home. I collected so much fabric that is now rare and out of print that I want to keep it forever by making 2 large quilts that will be our families little treasures.

You love doing what you do because: I don’t know how not to do what I do! I love it so much, it a huge part of me & my life. Making and sharing what I make brings me a feeling of belonging and makes me happy.

If you could travel anywhere: If I could pack my bags now, pick my mum who leaves so far away from me on the way and go to England, I would do it in a split second. My family and my craft is where my home is. While I have them and I can stitch, I will feel “at home” anywhere:)

Your favourite website: A have quite a few but the one I check every single day is Her Library Adventures

You might have seen the beautiful, whimsical work of By Beep on the Etsy blog but I couldn’t help but share it, in case you might have missed it.

Illustrator Emily Haworth is the maker behind By Beep and each piece is made of chipboard, hardened paper  and paper trinkets.

Read more of her story and see her studio on The Storque.
