how deep is the water?

I’ve made only a handful of life-changing decisions in my life.

They include in no particular order getting married, having children and buying a house.

I added another one to the list this week. One that has, for me ~ a fan of the status quo and the cosiness of the comfort zone ~ had its share of stomach-churning moments.

And on the day I made this decision real, put it out in the world, Seth Godin published this post about the depth of the water and whether you will sink or swim.

And when you swim, who cares how deep the water is?

These words were an anchor of reassurance on the day I resigned from my job of almost 17 years.

Yep, 17 years. I was pretty snug in that there comfort zone.

I’m moving to deeper water, a new role, a new organisation, a new routine for our family.

I know how to swim but I expect the water will be a little choppier at first.

But it’s time to dive in.

Hello weekend. Lovely to see you again. I don’t know about you lovely people but I always look to the weekend as a chance to reboot for the new week ahead. A little inspiration, a little organisation, a little relaxation. Sounds perfect, right.

Well we can take care of two out of three right here with some weekend reading. There’s an underlying theme of adventure here today, from great heights to losing yourself in great books. And just quietly, I know which one I prefer, I like to keep my feet firmly on the ground!
