Old habits die hard, as much as I want to shake the shackles of an editorial roster, I haven’t been quite able to break free today, resorting to type, so to speak!

But I came across several fonts by designer Vanessa Bays and was taken by her fun style, and her clever use of taking a couple of characters and making them into a fun icon to go along with her font theme.

I’ve  also featured her work before here ~ Miss Smarty Pants

And check out Vanessa’s collection on dafont or at her website.

One of my favourite new font repositories is through the Creative Market.

The Creative Market is a platform for handcrafted, “mousemade” design from independent creatives around the world. It’s a great place to find backgrounds, fonts, templates and more at really reasonable prices.

And every week they also offer a selection of free items.

This week, this font ~ Straits ~ is among the offerings. Not to be over-used, this art deco inspired font would be great to add some flair to personal projects.

Also available this week, is a selection of coloured paper backgrounds by Ed J. Brown Illustration , also used in my image above.

You’ll need to sign up for a free account before getting access but there is a range of great resources for any project you may be working on.

Happy browsing!

Are you ready make a statement?

Continuing with the be bold theme that kicked off the week, today some fonts that stand out in the crowd.

Well grab your favourite font from the selection above, type in your favourite saying that gives you a good kick in the butt and print it out and take action this week.

A good strong font to use in headlines and bold statements can really hold up a page. A handy collection of header fonts are the big guns of your font arsenal.

These are the fonts set to jettison out in the world and do great things, draw attention to key statements and inspire action.
