plant a seed // buy handmade

We’re drinking smoothies, more water through the day and reading more books.

[I started The Book Thief as too many people said it was too good not to and joined the library last week so I’m on my way.]

This week, one simple  task.

Buy something handmade.

Big, small, necessity or just a fun purchase, this week I encourage you to reach out and support the handmade community.

Pick out a item from your Etsy favourites, grab that special something you spot on the front page, follow a link or buy something from a favourite seller.

Valentine’s Day is coming up so buy something for the one you love.

If you join the challenge, pop back next week and share what you bought or share it on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #llplantaseed.

Let’s go shopping!

Welcome to a new week and a new healthy habit challenge!

This one is not so much for inner health but for mental health.

When was the last time you read a book?

I did read a book last month but it was short, lovely but short.

And other than that it’s been a while since I really read a book, a proper book.

Well, I’m hoping to change that this year and get back to reading.

I was a voracious reader in my youth, a real bookworm, but as I’ve gotten older, I haven’t found, no made, the time to read.

So this week I’m going to start a book. I don’t expect to finish it this week, as one option on the shelf is The Book Thief and I don’t think that will be achievable in a week. Otherwise I will pick up something new that’s creating a buzz at the moment.

I’m also going to join the library. In my new job the library is right next door so I’m going to get a card to make it easy to borrow and return. Rather than my usual MO of having a pile next to the door of overdue books.

So, what are you reading? Got any recommendations?

plant a seed // drink more water

This week’s challenge is a simple one but it’s something I noticed I’ve been slipping on.

Drink more water.

Now I’m working days, I should be better at drinking more water throughout the day, not just during an eight-hour shift at night, which is what I used to do.

I have a drink bottle on my desk, and I do drink throughout the day, but it’s a bit hit and miss.

So this week I’m aiming to get through that two litres of water barrier every day. Especially with another heatwave predicted this week!

I’m still getting my green on in the mornings with my smoothies, too, so that habit is still going.

And, as a reminder, five good reasons to drink more water.

  1. Increases Energy & Relieves Fatigue
  2. Promotes Weight Loss
  3.  Flushes Out Toxins
  4.  Improves Skin Complexion
  5.  Natural Headache Remedy

And if you’re having trouble remembering how much you drunk, grab this cute printable from  Wild Olive

How about you? Do you drink enough water throughout the day?
