noel, joy and scrabble ~ a christmas table

It’s all done and dusted now but I thought I would share some pictures of our Christmas table, as the ideas are really portable to any time of year. Christmas dinner is a small affair for us, but it doesn’t mean we don’t try and pull out some special touches.

This year, the focus was on letters and words, and a sort of vintage chic feel. I made placecard “photos” inspired by this idea from Marie Nichols, using scrabble tiles to spell out the names. Each image included some festive touches plus a couple of items pertinent to the person {I had some little helpers with this}.

I grabbed some letters from Spotlight, which spelt out joy and noel, and the brown hessian for a table runner. We used some corks, cut and spliced, to hold the photos and I had some napkins refashioned out of vintage tea towels from a friend. For that cosy feel, I had some tealights and some pinecone candles from Dusk.

Everyone “took home” their placecard and I haven’t had the heart to clear the table yet. I have until about the 5th, right?

christmas charity auction {creative collective november project}

A new month means a new project for the Creative Collective and this month is a very special project indeed. We are asking you, to join us, in raising money for the Starlight Foundation. I’m very fortunate to have two healthy children, who look forward to Christmas in the way children should ~ fairly certain in the knowledge they will wake in their own beds, that Santa will come and the day will be filled with fun, family and friends. Not everyone is that fortunate, and so this Christmas we are putting our creative talents to ensure something special comes the way of someone who needs it the most.

So what can you do?

CREATE

Those who wish to can create a handmade item of any kind that would be suitable to give as a gift. It can be of any dollar value and be inspired by anything you like. You can also create more than one item if you feel so inclined.

DONATE

Once you have created your item take a photo and contact Jess of Epheriell Designs via email and include the following:

  • a photo of your donation
  • the RRP the item would usually sell for in your store (please also add a postage cost if you require the winner to pay postage)
  • a brief description of your item
  • your shop name and link (one link per person)

You will be required to post your item to the highest bidder once the auction has ended. Those details will be supplied to you. All donations must be received by midnight Sunday, November 14.

THE AUCTION

The auction will be held on the Creative Collective Facebook page from noon AEDT, Monday, November 15 until midnight AEDT, Tuesday November 30. To place a bid on an item you simply leave a comment on the photo of that item with the dollar amount you wish to bid. Once the auction has ended the highest bidder on each item will then be contacted to make payment and provide a postal address. The items will be posted to the highest bidders by those who donated them, once payment has been received.

SUPPORT

All funds raised from the selling of these items will be donated to the Starlight Foundation to help grant the wish of sick children this Christmas.

Since being formed as an Australian children’s charity in 1988, Starlight has brightened the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia. Starlight programs are delivered both in and out of hospital, providing positive distraction to children in their time of need. The pain, loneliness and isolation that sick children feel dominates their lives, and they often miss out on normal experiences that healthy children take for granted. Physical recovery is only part of the solution. Starlight delivers innovative programs designed to make children happy and lift their spirits when they need it most. Starlight brings fun and laughter to children no matter what their illness or where they live.
- From The Starlight Foundation website.

We would love you to join with us in this project. We hope to make a difference in the lives of sick children at a time when cheer and laughter are most needed at this festive time of year. The auction will be a great place to do some Christmas shopping and buy a gift that will give twice!

Please help us by grabbing a button and placing it on your blog and linking it to this post to help spread the word!

And if you are joining in any of our projects, grab the button.
