{Monday} the good, the bad and the disappointment

the city

{view of the aquarium from skydeck}

So this would be the post where I would be telling you about my fantastic weekend, how I’ve come back all inspired and be sharing a whole load of tips and tricks I learnt at the Problogger event.

But, sadly, thing didn’t turn out quite how I had planned, and if you follow me on Twitter, then you already know how this story goes.

The thing is, all in all I had a great weekend with the family in the big smoke. But in all honestly, the blogging day was a bit of a bust for this blogger, thanks to that old chestnut ~ mechanical fault!

My plane was delayed by four hours, I finally got to the venue at the end of the lunch break, the first session I wanted to go to was full to the brim, so initially I felt lost, out of sorts and ready to pack it in.

But I stuck it out, wiped away the tears and all that, and thankfully, I got to go to a couple of great sessions and I felt the familiar pangs of inspiration.

Needless to say, I wasn’t firing on all social cylinders by the time the drinks part of the day came around. Without the benefit of being involved for the full day and getting into the groove and my best intentions to be my sparkling best, put my fears aside and go out there and meet people,  I was floundering, disorientated and anxious. I did, basically by accident and not by any of my own initiative, manage to meet some new people and say hi to some blogging heroes.

Thankfully, most of the day’s sessions were recorded so I won’t miss out entirely. However, it is not the same.

But the good. Our little family had a wonderful, stress-free time in the city. We went out for breakfast, saw the penguins at the aquarium and went to the A-league match between the two Melbourne teams. {We are a football ie. soccer family} and saw the view from skydeck. And we went to IKEA. Is it wrong to say that was a highlight?

So apart from a few tourist snaps, I don’t have much to share, but if you want some blogging day highlights, I suggest you pop by Annabel’s Successful Blogging. Annabel live blogged from the event and has a great recap of the day.

{monday} getting busy with it

getting busy with it

This is a bit of an exciting week for me, I have to admit. Lots going on including the problogger event at the end of the week. But that also means lots of organising, too.

Naturally, I have lists, lots of lists, and notes, too, everywhere. Somewhere in the chaos it is going to all come together, I hope!

When I get this overwhelmed type of feeling, I take a breath, prioritise and see where I can cut a few corners ~ particularly with the housework. Hey, if anything is going to give, it might as well be that!

I’m a busy little bee.

The weather is glorious here today and we were fairly blessed on the weekend , too. The garden is coming alive so yesterday I went out and snapped flowers, blossoms and bees with my macro lens.

These guys are getting busy with the citrus blossoms in the back yard. The blossoms of smell is divine and the drone of bees quite loud.

It is actually a little unsettling for this photographer ~ I’m allergic! So it was  a softly, softly approach to get up close to take these guys!

But expect some photo gallery posts this week.

And also, expect an inundation of blogtoberfest quotes today ~ I missed the weekend and the compulsive in me cannot deal with anything less than a full set!

In the meantime, here’s some things for your list:

Here’s to a productive and creative week.

ps. And the dust has settled somewhat and guess what ~ I’m presently No.70 in the Austrailan Women’s Bloggers Directory. How cool is that!

{over to you} in need of some recommendations

sunday drive

Next weekend, two big things are happening ~ I’m heading to the Problogger event {I’m on a roller coaster of being ridiculously excited and extremely nervous ~ if you are going let me know} and then the whole family is joining me for the weekend in Melbourne.

Now we are simple country folk and don’t head to the big smoke a lot, and we have a few plans but also some free time in the big city.

So I’m asking you, my lovely readers and friends, for any recommendations for our time in Melbourne ~ eating, doing, seeing for a family of four with two boys.

We are staying in the CBD and will have our car. I would love to make a trip to Ikea so any tips for that would also be helpful! I’ve been once in my entire life!

I’m also flying, by myself, to Melbourne. Any tips of what I should take for the day, hand luggage tips, also gratefully accepted.

Hit me with it!

{monday} a return to “normal”

centre yourself

Well here we are again at the start of another week, and the harsh reality of returning to “normal” ~ whatever that is.

Today, the small people head back to school, I head back to work to a crazy schedule and our week will be filled with homework, readers and after-school activities.

All this with the knowledge that Christmas is only 76 sleeps away.

I know, as if Monday needed to get any worse.

So as I sit here, with the sun still rising over the hills, I remind myself that the day ahead may be a little crazy but to take it one hour at a time. Do each thing as it comes, keep my expectations ~ and to do list ~ realistic and it will all be okay in the end.

Yesterday, I posted a quote for blogtoberfest about Sundays. It is a simple thought but looking back, so true. I spent yesterday mainly on the couch, with nothing pressing to do, a simple day just sitting, talking with my little family, watching car racing {I know but we know one of the drivers well which is why it held so much interest for us} and just being. Although there were plenty of things I could be doing, it was nice to just let it all go for day. I consider a Sunday “well-spent”.

Sitting there, sometimes doing some web-surfing on my iPad, I also found some great links so I’m going to kick off Monday with some great stumbleupon finds and I hope your day is a good one, even if it is a little crazy.

And today’s the last chance to win a copy of *bespoke*. Enter here

{monday} a week of possiblities

possibilities ~ our blueberry plant

{possiblities ~ our blueberry plant}

Monday has started off in a glorious fashion ~ the sun is out, it’s a public holiday here and I have the entire week off. The possibilities!

So today will be spent with the family ~ perhaps some bike riding, lunch in the sunshine and swimming lessons this afternoon ~ before I hit up my own to do list starting tomorrow. And naturally, there will be a to do list.

But first, some quick link love for your Monday:

And some more loveliness to kick off your week:

Have a great Monday.
