Snapshots // a lovely week

It’s been a lovely few days and it feels right to document them properly. Savouring them, if you will.

It was the Mr’s and I anniversary ~ there was flowers, awwww, and a lovely dinner out. This restaurant is in an old railway station and is just divine ~ food and decor.

A little perk of the job during the week was tasting some smoked trout by a local master smoker. Delicious.

The beautiful food continued through the weekend ~ with the Mr making a delicious hot smoked salmon and cous cous salad, [recipe in the latest Taste magazine].

The Mr was a on a roll, whipping up a Jamie Oliver version of paella with some added capsicums and fresh tomato.

And then the Mr and I made ourselves a platter or smoked trout and fresh bread for Sunday lunch while the boys were off at friends’ houses.

Lots of farmers market buys popping up on the menu. We’re lucky to have a range of local and lovely producers who attend the markets with their wares.

And we finished the weekend heading down to the river to the community wood-fired oven with our pizzas, getting them cooked and sitting among dozens of others doing a similar thing. An initiative of the council, the oven is open for baking usually every second Sunday and is free!

Documenting some lovely moments that were a little out of the ordinary.

snapshot // looking forward, looking back

In case you hadn’t noticed, or hadn’t missed me at all [:)] I took a small break over the festive period.

The festivities got a little frantic and then, well, it was hard to log on to a computer when the family was relaxing around me, I got caught up in their smooth flow.

Thanks to the change of jobs late in the year I have the Christmas period off. An unexpected bonus of the switch, it’s been a wonderfully relaxing time with my little family and around the house.

After a couple of days of not doing much at all, I’m getting busy around the house doing some decluttering and thinking about things.

I’m thinking about ways to make our new life ~ 2014 will mean the new job and a new routine ~ easier, more organised, less cluttered.

So I’m spending my time rearranging, tidying, chucking. And then the space will be clear for planning and writing.

Statigram is putting together these little videos of your best of Instagram for 2013. It’s nice to look back and see some highlights from the year.

I hope you are finding some relaxing moments in the rush, some time for reflection if you are so inclined, and time spent with family and friends.

And getting ready for another year of zesty fun!

Snapshots // October 20 ~ watching

Well, I came undone this week with the snapping. I’m a couple of days behind in the photo-a-day challenge but I’ve now identified the problem. The more abstract prompts are my undoing. But I’m not giving up! I’ll get there eventually.

So the week started here, watching Bathurst. Yes, I’m a bit of a revhead, plus we had a mate who was racing.

Snapshots // October 20 ~ good mag day

These made their way into the trolley while grocery shopping.

Snapshots // October 20 ~ favourite space

And the rest of the week went like this ~ wishing I had more time here [my favourite space ~ right now at least]

Snapshots // October 20 ~ cocktail hour

Cocktail hour! Using up the rest of the limoncello ~ wouldn’t want it to go off!

Snapshots // October 20 ~ pink party

Tickled pink! A little pay it forward fun I had ~ more to come on that this week.

Snapshots // October 20 ~ what's left in the fridge salad

What’s left in the fridge salad ~ pretty and yummy!

Snapshots // October 20 ~ leafy

And spring has sprung ~ it’s leafy and green in the neighbourhood.
