in the neighbourhood: inner pickle

I have been reading Fiona’s blog inner pickle pretty much since it’s inception. I went to university with Fiona’s sister who alerted me to the fact Fiona was starting a blog.

Fiona writes, in a very friendly and easy-to-relate-to way, about cooking and children, with a few crafty bits thrown in. What I love about Fiona’s blog is the fact she shares her journey, and experiments, in feeding the most wholesome and healthy food for her children {two smalls with a third on the way very soon},  what works and what doesn’t, and shares the recipes. I have bookmarked so many bits and pieces for future reference.

For instance, make stuff from scratch like peanut butter; or perhaps homemade arrowroot biscuits; and what kid doesn’t love noodles.

Cooking for kids, you need to find your inner pickle!

it’s the weekend, so why don’t you …

… do some baking.

Spring is giving us an unpredictable spell of weather. Who knows what the weekend will be like? And the beauty of baking is, if you time it right, you can have something lovely and warm straight out of the oven for a cosy afternoon tea watching the rain splash on the window, or pack it up and head out for a picnic with a scrumptious dessert.

So what to cook? Here’s a few ideas.

Happy baking!
