{pretty pulp} lovely packaging

Clockwise from top left: via The Knot; via Hege Greenall-Scholtz; via The Die Line; via Upon A Fold; by Creature Comforts; by A Creative Mint; by Wild Heart on Etsy.

One thing that has been on my to do list for a while is packaging for my shops. In fact on my list it says “review Lime Lane marketing materials”. I mean in all honesty, high on the list is “spend some time on shops” but one has to start somewhere.

I have lots of ideas buzzing around ~ when do we not ~ but can’t quite pin down a neat, little packaging idea that I am entirely happy with. I have a picture in my head but it is still a little blurry, if you know what I mean.

So two things:

  1. I pull together some pretty packaging ideas ~ it’s fun, inspiring and helpful.
  2. And I throw it open to you ~ what stands out for you when you receive a package from a handmade seller.

My “research” finds the following might be part of the list:

  • it should be like opening a gift
  • there should be a personal thank you note
  • a free gift like a postcard or print
  • a return discount voucher
  • recycled wrapping
  • eco-friendly wrapping

get cookin’ and set the table… the in-laws are nearly here! by radishandruth

I’m actually in the middle of Christmas menus at the moment, as we are hosting not one but two dinner back to back. And Hubby has his heart set on a proper turkey this year.

We haven’t managed to lock anything in yet and we aren’t the types to cook the same thing twice. We like to shake it up, do something new and fly bu the seat of our pants each and every dinner party.

I must admit, I love the planning. Looking through recipes, writing down ideas, menus and lists. The sweating over the hot stove, not so much.

What about you? Traditional favourites every year or do you like to mix it up?

‘peace 2′ by gretchenmist

I’ve been a long-time fan of the work of Belinda from gretchenmist, I have one of her prints hanging over my desk right where I am sitting now, and always love getting a little convo saying she has included something of mine in a treasury.

Belinda’s artistic eye brings together the most beautiful collections, and naturally this one filled with blues and greens is no exception.

A little bit of peace for the festive season, also, I think, known as the frantic season.

Hope you are finding some peace and calm in the middle of all the festivities.

ps. Speaking of keeping calm:

‘Winter lives in my bones.’ by jpgphotography

It’s summer time here, albeit in a rather unseasonal fashion. But I’m a winter girl at heart and couldn’t help but share this beautiful treasury.

And of course we all need a little pretty to kick off hump day.

  • Don’t forget it’s say hello to humpday over at the Facebook page ~ come and share a link, yours or something you found this week.
  • And, later today I’ll have a lovely giveaway to share and the Lime Time newsletter will be going out tomorrow with the winner of the inaugural giveaway. You still have time to sign up for some zesty goodness in your inbox and a chance to enter here.
  • And do you see the new calendars now in the shop

Enough about me, I’m going to leave you with this quote that I shared on Twitter this morning, I think it sums up Wednesdays pretty well.

It’s easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top. – Henry Ward Beecher

‘A Quiet Day in my Studio’ by CaryeVDPMahoney

It’s Wednesday, it’s like a make or break day of the week. No pressure on poor Wednesday or anything, but I often feel that if today isn’t productive, then that’s the week gone. It’s all downhill from here to the weekend.

My week’s plans were of course thrown out by the arrival of a tummy bug and the company yesterday of Master 7.

So today, I’m wishing for a room of one’e own, one where I can look myself away from the world and do my own thing.

Sadly I have deadlines to meet, and a committee meeting to attend, and dinner to cook, and all the rest of that thing we call life.

Instead I shall live vicariously though this virtual studio and imagine myself sitting on that fabulous cast iron bathtub couch, writing lists in my notebook while sipping mugs of tea.

What would your virtual studio look like?
