seeds // time

I’m reminded today of the importance of time.

Of time well spent.

Today I’m off to a funeral, the second I’ve attended in about six weeks. Two very different situations and people, one perhaps time well spent, one robbed of time.

But in the end, we would all love a few more minutes of time.

A reminder to spend your time well this week.

Hands up if you are a procrastinator?

I’ve got items on my to do list that are weeks old, and it’s not that they are unimportant, overly hard or even time-consuming, I’ve just procrastinated on them.

And the thing about those items that are left languishing on lists, they usually aren’t that tough. And I know that. Doesn’t stop me procrastinating on them that little while longer.

While procrastinating on Twitter this morning, (yes, it is only early on a Monday morning but I have already found time to procrastinate), I came across this post by Pip on time management.

Inspired by point two, I’m going to get cracking. I’ve seen a lot around about this method but never really thought it was for me. But now, at this time, it might just be what I need.

I’m going to get write a list and dedicate some of those items to the Pomodoro technique. I’ve grabbed a Chrome extension ~  Tomatoes ~ to use as a timer, which will also track my progress.

[case in point, my Chrome crashed as I attempted to do this, leaving this post half-written, so I left and put on another load of laundry, made a cup of tea, came back, relaunched, then went and did my dad's social media for his new posts, now I'm back]

I need to stay on task to get things done. And not put them off any longer.

Ready to cross off some items on your to do list?!

Let’s do it!

seeds // an ode to autumn

golden carpet

Autumn is my “Goldilocks” month.

Not too hot like summer, not too cold like winter, not too sneezy like spring. Just right.

It’s no secret I love autumn. [Evidenced by the range of stock images over at Lime Lane Photography]

And I was all set to settle into the golden season until I found out the forecasted temperatures for the week ahead were pushing the high 20s. I like my autumn a little cooler thanks Ms Nature.

But undeterred, today I’m celebrating all things autumn, including this picture plucked from the archives and which I stumbled  upon over the weekend. I can’t wait to go wading through a golden carpet of leaves again.

So here’s five favourite quotes about autumn:

The fall of a leaf is a whisper to the living.
~ Russian Proverb

Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree
~ Emily Bronte

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
To Autumn – John Keats

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
~ Albert Camus

Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
  ~George Eliot

{seeds} you know what they say about the best laid plans …

I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be. – Douglas Adams

I thought I started the week so well. I wrote myself a list yesterday, put plans and ideas for the week on the calendar.

Already things are going off course. Changes. New plans.

But that’s OK. I’ll end up where I need to be.

This week:

  1. Lists, lists and more lists: Christmas gift lists, packing lists, to do lists, reminder lists. I need them all at the moment. I’m using the Reminders app on my iPhone this week as it can remind me by time, date or location as well as just being a to list I can check off. Plus, it tells me how many things I’ve completed on my list while leaving the few things still to do. I love that sense of achievement!
  2. Order online now: For a lot of sites, this week is the last chance to guarantee Christmas delivery. So I’m putting aside the procrastination and getting in and getting stuff ordered, rather than leaving it too late.
  3. Work ahead: I’m an absolute deadline pusher. So I need to change my thinking and start doing things ahead of time. Even if it’s just a little bit here and there.
  4. Stop procrastinating: Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today! See point above.
  5. And finally, be audacious. I love this.

How’s  your week looking?
