I’ve been fortunate in my online to have met the talented and lovely Miss B some time ago through the initial Souvenir Foto School {read a little bit about it here} so I was very excited for her when she finally launched her own shoppe of beautiful wares, especially when it included luxurious notepaper and gorgeous stamps.

My biggest problem today is picking out a few items to share ~ there are so many beautiful things in the shoppe.

And because I can’t say it any better than Miss B herself:

Sitting atop the tidy shelves at Besotted Brand are the accouterments of fine living. Single note parfums await a mademoiselle (or madam) with a discerning décolleté. Members of letter writing societies, both real and imagined, appreciate the catalouges of courtly correspondence, bespoke or otherwise. Prints are waiting patiently to adorn your walls and steal your hearts. And, of course, it goes without saying that everyone the world over enjoys the satisfying thwap of a perfectly weighted wood-handled stamp.

This is but just a sneak peek, pop over and browse the virtual shelves for yourself.

Today I’m excited to share the new work of an online friend ~ Lakshmi.

Lakshmi, formerly showcased her work under the doodle kreations banner, but earlier this year she took a step back and, quite literally, turned over “a new leaf” with her creativity.

Once I started painting, I couldn’t stop. My love for colors and nature started to take shape on my canvases.
I am calling my first collection – A New Leaf. Its symbolizes me starting fresh , all over again. The collection is artwork inspired by beauty of nature and its riot of colors. I started painting in the autumn season , here in Australia. It also happens to be my favorite season of the year. So, you’ll see lots of warm tones of oranges, yellows, reds and browns. There’s a mix of landscape and abstracts. I like using bright bold colors and contrasting it with neutrals, although I don’t always stick to it. I let my paintbrush flow and what comes out of it is a combination of whats in my heart and soul.

I’m thrilled to see Lakshmi take this step, follow her heart, not to mention to see how beautiful these pieces are.

You can check out the whole collection over here.

{lime light} talking with lita about digiscrapping

Something old and something new here at Lime Lane today. This is not the first interview here at the site but it is the first time that digital scrapbooking has made an appearance.

Lita, from Artful Fancies and Litabells Designs, and an advertiser here at Lime Lane, has dropped by to share a quick introduction in the world of digital scrapbooking. Because I have to confess, it was a world of mystery to me and I thought it would be interesting to find out more about it. I’m a big fan of scrapbooking supplies ~ I love all the paper, and the embellishments, I love stamps although I have to admit I have never actually put together a scrapbook page. Although I am intrigued by the idea of putting together a page on the computer and printing it out.

First off, tell us about the world of digital scrapbooking ~ what is it and what does it involved?
Digital scrapbooking is based on traditional scrapbooking – preserving your memories, using papers and embellishments to create a beautiful page for your album. Digital scrapbooking takes that concept and simplifies it. Instead of having a bunch of papers, ribbons, flowers and other pretties, all you need is a computer and a photo editing program, and some digital scrapbooking supplies.

How do people use the digital elements? What kind of technical skill is required?
The most commonly used program is Photoshop, but other suitable programs include Gimp, PaintShop Pro, Scrapbook Max and Photoshop Elements. Now comes the fun part – shopping! There are many digital scrapbook stores online, where you can purchase beautiful digital kits, that include co-ordinating papers andembellishments. Using your program, you can create a beautiful layout that can later be printed and put into an album, or even made into a bound book.
Programs such as Photoshop have a fairly steep learning curve, and perhaps aren’t best for a beginner. Something like Scrapbook Max however, is very user friendly and quite simple to learn. There are many tutorials out there in Google-land though, which can help with whatever program you may have.

Do the digital kits have any other uses?

Kits can be used for scrapping layouts, personal blogs only and can also be printed to use in traditional scrapbooking.

Has digital scrapbooking taken off?
Digital scrapbooking is extremely popular these days. It is much faster than traditional scrapbooking, takes much less space and is incredibly cost effective. Papers from a scrap store can cost anywhere from $1.50 a piece to a whopping $5.00 and you can only use it once. In digiscrap, an entire kit (generally 12 papers and approx. 30 embellishments) costs on average $5- to $6 and can be used over and over again.

Where do you find inspiration for your kits?
I find inspiration in many places – sometimes from colours I see, something silly my kids say, a cute outfit, a fab magazine ad. Anywhere and everywhere really.

How do you find technology and social media has changed the world of digi scrapping?
Technology and social media have had a huge impact on scrapbooking. Clearly, the technology is what enable us to create our digital kits and layouts, and also makes it incredibly easy to access digital supplies via the net. Social media plays a huge part in ease of sharing tips and tricks, promoting business and also sharing our creations. Most digiscrap stores have forums and galleries attached creating a wonderful community feel. It is a great source of inspiration!

lime light: paper2

So, this week, time on the couch, flipping through magazines, reading through stockists lists {no real reason why ~ I just like seeing all the pretty websites} and I spotted paper2.

You know my love of paper, so naturally I was intrigued. And I’m always thrilled to find beautiful paper shops here on our Australian shores.

paper2 is a boutique paper store owned by graphic designer, Margaret Rockliff, located in Surry Hills in Sydney, stocking products from tokyo, london, frankfurt and new york, as well as it’s own range of products, all designed and printed in-house.

And you can shop online.

lime light: simply cute by karin

On Pinterest one evening I spotted a cute little image, a “made me smile”. Pin.

Then I saw another one and realised these little beauties weren’t one offs.

Which is how I arrived at the Etsy shop of Simply Cute by Karin.

Here I have highlighted the funny girl series, they make me chuckle and I love the colourful, simple illustrations.

But Karin has a range of other lovelies, like this Girl and Yellow Lab card.

Check out her etsy shop for the full range.
