lime light: july twenty eight

I spotted the work of Jenny from JulyTwentyEight over at madeit one day and was drawn in by her home pieces. I think the “study” is my favourite, my love of workspaces perhaps.

Jenny does a variety of pieces, which you can see her in her store, and I asked her to share a little of art here today. I think her words will be familiar to many of us.

Hi, my name is Jenny and I have been painting and creating since ever I can remember.  I work part-time, look after my family the rest of the time and try to fit in some artwork whenever I can.  My paintings are mostly mixed media comprising a background using acrylic paints and then layered with a variety of other materials to create a collage effect.  The inspiration comes from a number of sources, but primarily, just being out and about and aware of my surroundings can spark the smallest amount of awareness, often leading to a particular work.  I have always been fascinated with interiors and fashion and all my work always returns to these two subject matters.  I love seeing my paintings go to good homes where they are enjoyed, but I always miss them just a little bit too.

Be sure to go over and check out Jenny’s work. I am amazed by collage artists and the way they bring items together in a complete piece and Jenny’s work is no exception. Head here.

lime light: pinwheels and pearls

I must admit, I didn’t find Kate and Pinwheels and Pearls, she actually found me on Facebook. But once I clicked over to have a nosey around, I was quite taken in. Kate has found the most wonderful niche and has one of the most original products I’ve seen for a while.

But I’ll hand it over to Kate to tell you all about the delightful Pinwheels and Pearls.

Hi, my name is Kate and I am a “stay at home mum” to two beautiful children, Lila, 3 and Max, 1.
I’ve always been passionate about simple, battery-free, creative and imaginative play.  A ribbon wand found its way into our home two years ago and soon became our daughter’s most played with toy in the house. I tried to find more to give away as gifts but had no success … so I figured with a little creativity I could make them myself.
Since Pinwheels and Pearls commenced business earlier this year, we have been pumping out the wands!   My husband is my biggest supporter and hand sands all of the wands, amazing man he is!
I absolutely love making the wands, particularly for weddings, flowergirls adore receiving them and they feel like a real little princess!
The wands are a wonderful and creative prop for photographs as well as lots of fun to play with and a beautiful toy they can keep to remember the event.
P&P love our amazing customers and wonderful retailers selling our wands.  To put a smile on a little child’s face, makes me very happy!
Pinwheels and Pearls Ribbon Wands are perfect party favours, gifts and stocking fillers.

Kate has generously donated two delightful Christmas-themed sparkle ribbon wands ~ oh Deer and Mini-dot ~  for a giveaway.

To enter, leave a comment sharing your favourite thing about Christmas to go into the draw. Feel free to drop into Kate’s shop or join her on facebook. Entries will close next Monday morning at 9am AEDT and the winner announced that day. These will be perfect for a special little someone this Christmas.

lime light: lovely little parties

Welcome, I have a lovely, newish business to you today, which I actually first spotted when someone tweeted about it. I was intrigued because like Virginia, I like to throw the small ones a special party on their special day. And who doesn’t love a good party?

Virginia officially launched Lovely Little Parties only last month and has a lovely range of those great party items and brings them all to you at the click of a mouse. In her words:

Lovely Little Parties started out of a great desire for me to start my own venture in something and one of my great loves in life is stationery! Combined with my love for doing special things for my children on their birthdays, Lovely Little Parties was born. I’d spend hours trying to hunt down one or two special party items to give them a lovely little party at home without having to go too over the top! There are some great products available in the US too that are not readily available here, so part of what I’m trying to achieve is bringing some of those special party accessories to us here in Australia.

Lovely Little Parties has a lovely range of fun items and if you are celebrating Halloween, Virginia has some great items for your spooky celebration.

lime light: takes a break

It’s holidays in these parts at the moment. In a rare moment of synchronicity, the entire Lime Lane household is on holidays {this does not include the dog, he is always on holidays}, so this post is also going to take the week off.

Due to my compete disorganisation, and a desire to be out and about with the family in the glorious weather, lime light is taking a break. We are taken with a “zest” for life. Hence the image tie in.

But, would you like to be a part of lime light, email me, I’m looking for submissions.

lime light: lettergirl

I was browsing the poppytalk handmade market when I came across lettergirl. I would so love a personalised address stamp like these, I would also love to write more letters, maybe it would inspire me to do so? It would be so fun to have one for the family and one for each of the boys to encourage them to write letters too, don’t you think?

Lettergirl is the work Gina, a designer from Minneapolis, who “loves to check her mailbox”. Her profile says she hopes “to inspire you to stay in touch the old-fashioned way”.

Her range, which is all lettered by hand, includes rubber stamps, wood handle stamps and self-inking stamps, and not only address labels but designs for weddings and book plates, too.
