That’s right. Happy birthday Dr Seuss, born on this day in 1904. You didn’t think I would let this day just pass by now did you?

a new look and a welcome

Well it’s all about the new today, and I have also been squirreling away on a new layout for le blog, so ta-dah!
Only some slight modfications ~ a header, icons and some changes to the layout ~ but a change is as good as a holiday.
I’m also thrilled to welcome some lovely advertisers to this here space. The growth of the le blog {which is fabulous} meant higher running costs and so I decided to go down the advertising route to cover the costs of things like hosting and bandwidth.
The advertisers are carefully curated and fit in with the blog and represent things I like and enjoy. So I would urge you to give a hearty welcome to:

Today is Australia Day here in the land down under, it’s a public holiday, a day for barbecues, gatherings, patting each other on the back and all that.
So today, it is strictly an Aussie-only zone and I’m inviting you to mark the day with us by:

it’s january and i need my slippers

While the northern hemisphere shivers through this first month of the new year, we should, quite frankly, be sweltering.
But this morning, it is decidedly chilly. Up early thanks to holiday mode, and enjoying the quiet calm before the small ones awake {which is glorious}, my feet hit the wooden floor and I felt … cold.
What, in January.
We have been blessed thus far with a very mild summer. I daren’t say too much lest I jinx it with a spate of 40 degree days {that’s Celsius northern folks}, but jeez it’s been lovely.
