new creative collective project ~ in the hoop

First of the month, and you know what that means ~ a new Creative Collective project. Now this one might be a bit out of my league but I do have some ideas on how I can do a project combining my talents and an embroidery hoop. We’ll see how it goes.

Be Inspired:
We are sure that you have all noticed the trending use of the faithful old Embroidery Hoop. This month’s project is all about this very versatile crafting tool! We want you to use your creative flair and create something, anything using an embroidery hoop. Any size, round or oval, the choice is yours!

Share:
We want to see what you have created! Take a photo of your In the Hoop Project and upload it to the Creative Collective Flickr Group or the Facebook Page so we can all see how you have used your embroidery hoop!

Don’t forget to include, in the comments/description fields, what items you used to complete your project, why you chose to do what you did and if you have a tutorial so others can do it too. The more information you can leave the greater the chance of the image being used by other people.

If you are a regular blogger be sure to stop by the Creative Collective Blog each Wednesday for our Creative Collective Link Love post where you can add your link and share the progress of your project with us all.

This project runs from today until 31 May 2011. After this date the Creative Collective Members will blog about some of the great items you all create!

If you are stuck for ideas, need someone to bounce ideas off or just generally want to chat with other crafty minded people, sign up to the Creative Collective Forum and see what the buzz is about!

Now it is time to get your craft on! We can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

creative collective: green or ‘green’

A new month, a new Creative Collective project and this month we are going green!

Be Inspired:

In recognition of St Patrick’s Day the theme for this project is Green! Whether that’s simply to do with colour or because you’ve upcycled, recycled and reused items to make a green craft.

We’re asking you to create a “green” craft project. You could do anything from reusing old buttons to make a clock, using everyday items to make inspired images or re-purposing everyday items into something extraordinary. Or you could simply be inspired to use various shades of green to create your masterpiece.

Through out the month of March the Creative Collective Blog will be showcasing some green themed projects, artists and items so remember to come back and check it regularly!

Don’t forget the Creative Collective Forum is also a great place to get together with other crafters and swap ideas, talk about what you’re working on or simply just to hang out.

happy heart day

So yes, today is Valentine’s Day. Have you done anything extraordinary for the special people in your life today. Got to say we don’t really celebrate it here at Casa Lime Lane {which of course inspired this card} although I couldn’t resist using these adorable fruit stickers in the small ones’ lunchboxes today.

But if you’ve been caught out today, here are some quick and simple ideas you can do almost anywhere to share the love today.

  1. A sweet set of printable Valentine’s from fresh picked whimsy
  2. Grab a chocolate bar and wrap it with love with a selection of printables in this round-up at Skip to My Lou
  3. Perfect for your favourite work colleague perhaps: coffee with a dash of love ~ coffee cup wrappers from Eat Drink Chic
  4. Pop something special in this pillow box from Skip to My Lou
  5. Separated from your Valentine ~ send an e-card from a fantastic selection from Kate Spade

Or maybe you could leave a random Valentine ~ join in the Creative Collective February project

a new “craft” for a new year

So the Creative Collective January project was trying a new craft. Now as usual I had big plans, and little time, and after seeing some other’s new crafts, I have suddenly thought of several other things I would have liked to try.

Anyhow.

My original thought was collage, as I love paper, and I had some ideas, but, aah the execution, never got there.

Then I bought a little something, which arrived last week,  more in keeping with my “craft” {ie. photography} and it suddenly hit me ~ this was trying something new. {And as I have pointed out ~ the whole stiching, knitting, sewing thing, never going to be me}.

So, what is it? This is a Diana mini camera. It’s a film camera and only has basic settings, despite which, as you can see, take some skill to master. These shots are from my first roll of film over the weekend ~ I need lots of practice and I might have to do a little googling. In the digital age, as polaroid age, it’s a strange sensation not knowing quite how your photos will turn out.

1. geraniums 2. selfie 3. a sunny spot

But it was a lot of fun and I look forward to some more learning and experimenting. And one day, I might just try collage, too.
