{monday} how a croissant made me feel organised

planning

This week I decided to start the week off  right. While out shopping yesterday, I bought myself some croissants from the bakery, ready for my Monday morning. Those croissants alone were enough to sustain me through Sunday night and the thought of facing the start of the week.

See that, that was thinking ahead right there. That borders on being organised.

I’m finally feel like I’m getting “all my ducks in a row”. My efforts at trying to be organised are finally paying off. Do you know I’ve even started writing down ideas for Christmas gifts, as I think of them! {Hooray for Evernote!}

Yesterday, looking ahead to the week I didn’t feel overwhelmed, I knew it would be busy but I felt inspired and motivated, ready to tackle it head-on.

Although now, it’s Monday morning and I’m feeling a little flat and I’m trying hard to get that momentum back. I need to start working on those things that excite me and get that momentum back.

A croissant doesn’t hurt, either.

So as usual, I’ve got a long to do list and only so many hours in the day.

Part of that list includes trying to tidy this place up a bit so you may notice a few tweaks and changes around here. A little housekeeping. Excuse the mess while I renovate.

Also on the list, in case you missed it, the Lime Time newsletter has changed from a monthly to a weekly edition. It feels like a better fit. And, despite my fears of everyone leaving in droves, I ‘ve actually welcomed some new subscribers instead, so thank you and welcome. The next edition will be going out about mid-week but in the meantime you can catch the first of the new style here.

And I’m starting some new features in my home away from homes on the internet. On Saturdays on twitter, look out for #74funthings with links to things to see and do for your weekend. And join me on Facebook on Wednesday for Say Hello for Hump Day, a chance to introduce yourself and share your own or another favourite website, shop, blog or link.

I would love to see you out and about.

How’s your week kicking off? Got any tips for curing that flat Monday-itis feeling?

{my place & yours} where I sleep

{my place & yours} where you sleep

So finally getting around to joining in with Vic and my place and yours. This week’s theme is Where I Sleep, and fittingly enough it is all very lazy on my behalf because I already had this photo of where I sleep.

This was one of the first photos I took with my Diana mini, hence the arty blurriness of it all, also great for hiding the mess. This is typical of the scene though ~ covers thrown back on one side after I have leapt out of bed in a mad rush realising I’ve turned the alarm off twice and it is now only 45 minutes until I have to get the kids out the door for school.

This photo is aptly titled “bedhead”.

Join in with my place and yours.

{monday} what’s goin’ on + November calendar download

battle lines

Today has dawned like an other ordinary day but what is hides behind it’s clear sunrise is a state of chaos with lots going on.

Just your average Monday playing out in homes all over the world.

Around these part I’m doing a little housekeeping {oh not the housework kind, that can wait, the fun stuff around here}. The mini-makeover I started a few weeks ago I hope to complete this week. If you were here on the weekend, you would have noticed I changed up the weekend posts. And in going forward I took a couple of steps back. I think it is a delayed reaction to the blogging event, but I’m trying to get a clearer picture of what I’m doing here. Apart from rambling …

  • Instead of one big weekend edition of zest, I’m going to break it up into two posts. On Saturday, a curated collection of links for your weekend reading ~ the returns of lime link love ~ that I hope will inspire you and enhance your weekend. On Sundays, a quick collection of tweets {zesty tweets}  from the week, some links and tips you might have missed. Skim at your pleasure. I would love to hear your thoughts.
  • Today is also Halloween, not that we do anything here and only some years might we get the occasional trick or treater. Thankfully the smalls haven’t really caught on to the craze. Alison’s thoughts on this sum it up well, I think.
  • That also means the end of blogtoberfest! I have so enjoyed my month of quotes. Although I may need another month to catch up on all the visiting!
  • Tomorrow is November ~ eek ~ and also the day I become the mother of a nine-year-old. Double eek. Where did that time go? So before I get stuck into wrapping presents and making party plans, here is the new month’s calendar, in the hope you might be more organised than me!

And I’m working on something new this week. Sign up to the newsletter to get the news first.

So lots of changes happening here and all of it involves taking the next step forward. It pays to be stop every now and then in the midst of the chaos and savour the excitement, too.

What things chaotic and exciting are happening in your part of the world this week?

{Monday} the good, the bad and the disappointment

the city

{view of the aquarium from skydeck}

So this would be the post where I would be telling you about my fantastic weekend, how I’ve come back all inspired and be sharing a whole load of tips and tricks I learnt at the Problogger event.

But, sadly, thing didn’t turn out quite how I had planned, and if you follow me on Twitter, then you already know how this story goes.

The thing is, all in all I had a great weekend with the family in the big smoke. But in all honestly, the blogging day was a bit of a bust for this blogger, thanks to that old chestnut ~ mechanical fault!

My plane was delayed by four hours, I finally got to the venue at the end of the lunch break, the first session I wanted to go to was full to the brim, so initially I felt lost, out of sorts and ready to pack it in.

But I stuck it out, wiped away the tears and all that, and thankfully, I got to go to a couple of great sessions and I felt the familiar pangs of inspiration.

Needless to say, I wasn’t firing on all social cylinders by the time the drinks part of the day came around. Without the benefit of being involved for the full day and getting into the groove and my best intentions to be my sparkling best, put my fears aside and go out there and meet people,  I was floundering, disorientated and anxious. I did, basically by accident and not by any of my own initiative, manage to meet some new people and say hi to some blogging heroes.

Thankfully, most of the day’s sessions were recorded so I won’t miss out entirely. However, it is not the same.

But the good. Our little family had a wonderful, stress-free time in the city. We went out for breakfast, saw the penguins at the aquarium and went to the A-league match between the two Melbourne teams. {We are a football ie. soccer family} and saw the view from skydeck. And we went to IKEA. Is it wrong to say that was a highlight?

So apart from a few tourist snaps, I don’t have much to share, but if you want some blogging day highlights, I suggest you pop by Annabel’s Successful Blogging. Annabel live blogged from the event and has a great recap of the day.

{monday} getting busy with it

getting busy with it

This is a bit of an exciting week for me, I have to admit. Lots going on including the problogger event at the end of the week. But that also means lots of organising, too.

Naturally, I have lists, lots of lists, and notes, too, everywhere. Somewhere in the chaos it is going to all come together, I hope!

When I get this overwhelmed type of feeling, I take a breath, prioritise and see where I can cut a few corners ~ particularly with the housework. Hey, if anything is going to give, it might as well be that!

I’m a busy little bee.

The weather is glorious here today and we were fairly blessed on the weekend , too. The garden is coming alive so yesterday I went out and snapped flowers, blossoms and bees with my macro lens.

These guys are getting busy with the citrus blossoms in the back yard. The blossoms of smell is divine and the drone of bees quite loud.

It is actually a little unsettling for this photographer ~ I’m allergic! So it was  a softly, softly approach to get up close to take these guys!

But expect some photo gallery posts this week.

And also, expect an inundation of blogtoberfest quotes today ~ I missed the weekend and the compulsive in me cannot deal with anything less than a full set!

In the meantime, here’s some things for your list:

Here’s to a productive and creative week.

ps. And the dust has settled somewhat and guess what ~ I’m presently No.70 in the Austrailan Women’s Bloggers Directory. How cool is that!
